We all know that Easter is ultimately to celebrate Christ’s resurrection, thus defeating sin and death. Now most people think that the eggs represent the stone that was rolled away from the tomb. However this is not entirely true. The egg is both the stone and the tomb at the same time.
The egg as a whole is a roundish object like a stone, but unlike the stone that was rolled away, the plastic eggs can be opened. So the egg is both the stone that was rolled away as well as the tomb itself. It’s like a two-in-one symbol. Very powerful.
But after you open the egg, what is inside? Candy. Now what is the candy supposed to represent? You might think that the candy is a gift and that gift is Christ. But that’s what Christmas is for. Why would God want two holidays devoted to gifts?
When the Mary I and Mary II came to the tomb, it was empty except for an angel. Now you might think that the candy represents the angel. But why would you eat an angel? The candy doesn’t represent the angel, but rather what the angel said.
Matt 28:5 I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. [6] He is not here; he has risen
Now that good news is a treat. It is something that you can take within you. You’re supposed to take the news and accept it and internalize it. Now that you know what the eggs are supposed to represent, it brings us back to the original question, “What does Jesus hide eggs on Easter?” Couldn’t He put the eggs in plain sight? But Jesus hides the eggs to fulfill this scripture…
Matt 12:38 Then some of the scribes and Pharisees said to Him, “Teacher, we want to see a sign from You.” 39 But He answered and said to them, “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign; and yet no sign will be given to it but the sign of Jonah the prophet; 40 for just as JONAH WAS THREE DAYS AND THREE NIGHTS IN THE BELLY OF THE SEA MONSTER, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
The Pharisees saw all the miracles Christ did, but the truth was hidden from them. Just like how the eggs are hidden. And that is why Jesus hides eggs on Easter.
Now if you need me to explain the bunny to you, that might take a little longer because I would have to go back and explain the scriptures in their original Hebrew and Greek.
All sillyness aside… Easter is awesome because that’s the culmination of Christ’s victory over sin and death. We have nothing to fear of sin and death because of His resurrection.

MT 28:1 After the Sabbath, at dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to look at the tomb. MT 28:2 There was a violent earthquake, for an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and, going to the tomb, rolled back the stone and sat on it. [3] His appearance was like lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. [4] The guards were so afraid of him that they shook and became like dead men. MT 28:5 The angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. [6] He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay. [7] Then go quickly and tell his disciples: `He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.’ Now I have told you.” MT 28:8 So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. [9] Suddenly Jesus met them. “Greetings,” he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. [10] Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid. Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee; there they will see me.” MT 28:11 While the women were on their way, some of the guards went into the city and reported to the chief priests everything that had happened. [12] When the chief priests had met with the elders and devised a plan, they gave the soldiers a large sum of money, [13] telling them, “You are to say, `His disciples came during the night and stole him away while we were asleep.’ [14] If this report gets to the governor, we will satisfy him and keep you out of trouble.” [15] So the soldiers took the money and did as they were instructed. And this story has been widely circulated among the Jews to this very day. MT 28:16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. [17] When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. [18] Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. [19] Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, [20] and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
